Description

Captured ship: Die Vier Gebroeders otherwise Les Quatre Frères of Schiedam (master Claas Jelles Knyper otherwise Claas Gelles Knyper).

History: a Dutch merchant ship (100 tons, 5 men), bound from Le Havre to Brest, laden with timber and wine; taken on 18/29 May 1746 off Ushant by HMS Amazon (Samuel Faulkener commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

  • [CP 7]: attestation and claim;
  • [CP 8]: attestation as to the quality of the timber;
  • [CP 9]: allegation;
  • [CP 10-CP 11]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 10 ship's papers (some returned).

Ships Papers numbered SP 4-5, 8-10, cargo manifest, bill of lading, letters, sea protest.
