Captured ship: La Vierge de la Garde of Marseilles (master Jean Louis Abeille or Abecla).
History: a French merchant ship (180 tons, 14 guns, 27 men), bound from Martinique to Bordeaux, laden with sugar, coffee and indigo; taken on 23 June / 4 July 1747 in latitude 47°N off Ushant by HMS Advice (Richard Haddock commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.
