Captured ship: La Vestale of Nantes (master Pierre Ragideau Lepinay or Raguiday Lepinay, succeeding Thomas Larragon or Laragon).
History: a French merchant ship (150 tons, 12 guns, 33 men), bound from Martinique to Nantes, laden with sugar and coffee; taken on 17/28 June 1744 in latitude 46°N by HMS Hampton Court (Savage Mostyn commanding), HMS Grampus (Richard Collins commanding) and HMS Chester (Francis Geary commanding), and brought into London.
