Description

Captured ship: Les Trois Amis of St Valery (master Louis Jolly or Joly).

History: a French merchant ship (70 tons, 7 men), bound from Porto to St Valery, laden with sumac, oranges, lemon and cork; taken on 6 April 1744 about 5 leagues off Portland by HMS Captain (Thomas Griffin commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.

  • [CP 5]: allegation;
  • [CP 6]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 8 ship's papers.

Ship's Papers numbered SP A-SP H, bill of lading, charterparty, muster roll, ship's pass, letters.
