Captured ship: Les Trois Amis of St Valery (master Louis Jolly or Joly).
History: a French merchant ship (70 tons, 7 men), bound from Porto to St Valery, laden with sumac, oranges, lemon and cork; taken on 6 April 1744 about 5 leagues off Portland by HMS Captain (Thomas Griffin commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.
