Captured ship: Le Triton of Bordeaux (master Jean Brunett), formerly the English ship Nugent.
History: a French merchant ship (250 tons, 12 guns 50 men and 3 passengers), bound from Saint Domingue to Bordeaux, laden with sugar, coffee, indigo, hides and leather; taken on 15/26 April 1748 in latitude 44°N about 100 leagues west of Bordeaux by HMS Monmouth (Henry Harrison commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
