Captured ship: La Thétis of Nantes (master François Masson).
History: a French merchant ship with letter of marque (730 tons, 20 guns, 95 men), bound from Lorient to the Isle de France [Mauritius] and Isle Bourbon [Reunion], laden with gunpowder, brandy, wine, sailcloth, beef and flour; taken on 3/14 May 1747 in latitude 44°N by HMS Ambuscade (John Montague commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.
