Description

Captured ship: Success of Southampton (master William Luckett).

History: an English ship (40 or 50 tons, 2 men with the rest ashore), bound from Ostend to the River Thames, laden with wine; taken on 26 May / 6 June 1744 near Gravesend by customs officials on suspicion of carrying French goods, and brought into London.

  • [CP 21]: attestation as to papers [which were restored?].
