Captured ship: La Subtille of Rochefort (master Beaussier de Lisle).
History: a French frigate (350 tons, 28 guns, 194 men), bound from Rochefort on a cruise; taken on 20 November / 1 December 1746 in latitude 47°N off Belle-Isle by HMS Portland (Charles Stephens commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
