Captured ship: La Subtille of Rochefort (master Beaussier de Lisle).
History: a French frigate (350 tons, 28 guns, 194 men), bound from Rochefort on a cruise; taken on 20 November / 1 December 1746 in latitude 47°N off Belle-Isle by HMS Portland (Charles Stephens commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

- [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
- [CP 6]: allegation;
- [CP 7-CP 8]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 12 ship's papers.
Ship’s Papers numbered SP 1-SP 12, including letter of marque with copies, muster roll, bill of credit, certificate, agreement between the crew and owner, ransom bills (one filled).
