Description

Captured ship: La Sérionne of Calais (commander Antoine Varsy).

History: a French privateer (13 tons, 3 guns, 17 men) bound from Calais on a cruise; taken on 28 February / 9 March 1746 off Blackness [Cap Blanc-Nez] by the privateers Eagle (John Bazely commanding) and York (William Jennings commanding), and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: allegation;
  • [CP 7-CP 8]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 5 ship's papers.

Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-SP 5, including muster roll, letter of marque, instructions.

[Decision: condemned as prize, 9 May 1746]
