Description

Captured ship: Le Rostan of Bordeaux (master Jacques Garbay).

History: a French ship (230 tons, 12 guns, 34 men), bound from Saint Domingue to Bordeaux, laden with indigo, coffee and sugar; taken on 25 August / [5 September] 1744 in latitude 44°N by the privateer Queen of Hungary (Joseph Dommett commanding), and brought into Bristol.

  • [CP 4]: allegation;
  • [CP 5-CP 6]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 13 ship's papers.

Ship’s Papers numbered SP 1-SP 13, bills of lading, invoices, muster roll.

[Decision: condemned as prize, 27 September 1744]
