Description

Captured ship: St Rosalia of Barcelona (master Francisco Rois or Rodriguez).

History: a Spanish ship (abandoned by her crew), bound from Barcelona to a port in Galicia, laden with 1,500 quintals of gunpowder; taken on 9/20 August 1739 in latitude 38°N by HMS Oxford (James Compton commanding), and brought into Lisbon.

  • [CP 5-CP 6]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of 3 of the ship's papers.

Ships Papers numbered SP 1-SP 12, letter of marque, letters, orders, port papers, bill of lading.
