Description

Captured ship: La Questense or La Questieuse of Cherbourg (master Nicolas Vincent).

History: a French privateer (20 tons, 4 guns, 47 men), bound from Cherbourg on a cruise; taken on 25 April / 6 May 1746 off Portland by HMS Jamaica (James Web commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: allegation;
  • [CP 7-CP 8]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 2 ship's papers.

Ships Papers numbered SP 1-SP 2, muster roll, letter of marque.
