Captured ship: Providence of Leith (master David Bervie).
History: a Scottish ship (c.100 tons, 9 men and a boy), formerly La Reine de France, bound from Leith to Rotterdam, laden with linseed; taken on 1/12 April 1748 off Cromer by the privateer L'Habile Pecheuse (Charles Harinck commanding) and ransomed for 455 guineas, with her capturer then being captured on 5/16 April by the privateer Eagle (John Bazely commanding) with a hostage on board, and brought into Dover.
