Description

Captured ship: La Parfaite of Dunkirk (master Charles Joseph Durie).

History: a French privateer (110 tons, 24 guns, 62 men), bound from Dunkirk on a cruise; taken off the Dogger Bank on 20/31 October 1745 by HMS Pearl (Richard Haddock commanding), HMS Folkestone (Peter Dennis commanding) and HMS Sheerness (William Bully commanding), and brought into the Downs.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: allegation;
  • [CP 7-CP 8]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 19 ship's papers.

Ships Papers numbered SP 1-SP 19, letter of marque, blank ransom bills, instructions, letters in French and Dutch, muster roll, four journals and logs in French and Dutch.
