Captured ship: De Providentia (Proviendentia) of Bergen (master Hans Lorens Fester otherwise Hans Lorentzen Fester).
History: a Danish ship (80 tons, 6 guns, 10 men), bound from Stockholm to Le Havre, laden with pitch, tar, deals, paving stones and guns; taken on 7/18 November 1747 off Cape d'Antifer by the privateer Hawk (Thomas Holman commanding), and brought into Rye.
