Description

Captured ship: De Providentia of Holmestrand (master Anders Styr).

History: a Danish ship (60 lasts, 8 men and 2 boys), bound from St Martin to Calais or Dunkirk, laden with salt, wine and brandy; taken on 22 June / 3 July 1744 off Calais by the privateerEagle (John Bazely or Bazeley commanding), and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 5-CP 6]: attestation and claim, attestation;
  • [CP 7]: allegation;
  • [CP 8-CP 9]: commission of appraisement, appraisement;
  • [CP 10-CP 16]: attestation as to papers, translations of ship's papers 1, 2, 4, 10, 12, 17, 26-28, 33-34, 41-42, 44-45 (all restored).

[Decision: ship restored 4 August 1744, cargo condemned 27 September 1744]
