Description

Captured ship: Prosperity of Glasgow (master Hugh Campbell).

History: a Scottish ship with both English and French passes, bound from Greenock to Le Havre, laden with tobacco 'for the account of the farmers general of France'; taken on 14/25 November 1744 off the Lizard by the privateer Expedition (John Bowden or Bawden commanding), and brought into Falmouth.

  • [CP 3-CP 4]: two attestations given in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
