Description

Captured ship: Printz Wilhelm of Hamburg (master Pieter Garloff Luders).

History: a Hamburg ship (60 Dutch lasts, 7 men), bound from St Martin to Dunkirk, laden with brandy; taken on 30 April / 10 May 1745 off Calais by the privateer Eagle (John Bazeley commanding), and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 1-CP 6]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, blank page, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 7]: attestation and claim;
  • [CP 8-CP 10]: translaton of a claim issued by the Senate of Hamburg, sea protest, docket;
  • [CP 11]: allegation;
  • [CP 12-CP 14]: attestation as to papers, and two sets of abstracts and translations of the 14 ship's papers from French, German and Dutch.

Ships Papers: SP 1-SP 8, SP 14 (SP 9- SP 13 restored).

[Decision: cargo condemned, ship restored, 20 June 1745]
