Description

Captured ship: Le Postillon of Boulogne (master Pierre Altazin).

History: a French privateer (80 tons, 16 guns, 82 men), bound from Dieppe on a cruise; taken on 16/27 April 1746 between Poole and Portland by privateer Jamaica (James Webb commanding), and brought into Weymouth.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: allegation;
  • [CP 7-CP 8]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 2 ship's papers.

Ships Papers numbered SP 1-SP 2, muster roll, letter of marque.
