Description

Captured ship: La Palme of Brest (master Etienne Louis de Perier otherise de Pereir).

History: a French warship (corvette, 200 tons, 12 guns, 74 men), bound from St Malo to the French Caribbean; taken on 22 January / 2 February 1748 in latitude 49°N in the Bay of Biscay by HMS Surprize (James Webb commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

  • [CP 13-CP 14]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 2 ship's papers.

Ships Papers numbered SP 1-SP 2, letter of marque, list of officers.
