Captured ship: Providence of Plymouth (master James Grant).
History: an English ship (124 tons), bound from Plymouth to Porto, laden with mud fish, pilchards and whale oil; taken in mid-April 1747 off Plymouth by the French privateer Le Tigre (Allain Bernard Emeric commanding), retaken three days later off Ushant by the privateers Guernsey (Daniel Peichard commanding) and Cumberland (John Mauger commanding), and brought into Guernsey.
