Captured ship: Providence of Cork (master John Foulon, and after his death, Nicolas Trant).
History: an Irish ship (50 tons, 4 men), bound from Whitehaven to Lisbon, laden with coal; taken on suspicion of trading with France on 28 April / 9 May 1745 off the Glenan Isles, by the privateers Society (Philip Winter commanding) and the Greyhound (Daniel Pitou commanding), and brought into Jersey.
