Captured ship: Prosperous of Folkestone (master James Taught).
History: an English ship (60 tons, 6 guns, 11 men and a boy), bound from Bordeaux or Flushing to Littlehampton, laden with a small amount of tea and brandy; taken on 8/19 September 1745 off Burlingate by the privateer Carlisle (William Owen commanding) on suspicion of smuggling, and brought into Dover.
