Captured ship: Le Philibert (commander Jacques Lars de Lescouet).
History: a French East India Company ship (700 tons, 30 guns, 200 men), bound in convoy from L'Orient to Quebec, laden with wine, brandy, flour and salt; taken at the first battle of Cape Finisterre on 3/14 May 1747 off Cape Finisterre by HMS Falkland (Blumfield Barradall commanding) with Vice Admiral Anson's Squadron, and brought into Portsmouth.
