Description

Captured ship: Phaeton of Flushing (master Leendert de Koningh).

History: a Dutch ship (6 or 7 lasts, 3 men), bound from Flushing to Dunkirk, laden with mountain wine, raisins, almonds and combs, suspected to be enemy goods; taken on 22 February / 2 March 1745 off Ostend by the privateer True Briton (John Dyer commanding), and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 6]: attestation and claim;
  • [CP 7-CP 9]: three attestations relating to John MacNamara of Dunkirk;
  • [CP 10-CP 11]: accounts of charges incurred by de Koningh since capture;
  • [CP 12]: commission;
  • [CP 13-CP 14]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 19 ship's papers [which were restored].

[Decision: restored with costs and damages, 20 May 1745]
