Description

Captured ship: St Nicolas of Calais (commander Louis Morelle or Marelle).

History: a French privateer (74 tons, 10 guns, 94 men), bound from Calais on a cruise; taken in fight on 19/30 October 1746 about 8 leagues south of Lands End by HMS Ambuscade (John Montague commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
