Description

Captured ship: St Nicolas or St Nicolaus of Uddevalla (master Martin Ohlson).

History: a Swedish merchant ship (34 Swedish lasts, 8 men), bound from Uddevalla to Nantes, laden with deals and steel; taken on 28 September / 7 November 1745 between Dover and Calais by the privateer York (William Jennings commanding), and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: attestation and claim of the master;
  • [CP 7]: allegation;
  • [CP 8-CP 9]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 7 ship's papers [these papers were restored].
