Captured ship: St Nicholas snow of St Jean de Luz (master Michael Darmora or Dormarr).
History: a French merchant ship (110 tons, 8 guns, 12 men), bound from Madeira to the Cape Verde Islands, laden with iron, nails, butter, salt, bread, candles, fish and bale goods; taken on 12/23 December 1743 about 8 leagues off Cape Finisterre by HMS Captain and HMS Hampshire, and brought into Portsmouth.
