Description

Captured ship: Nuestra Senora Pencha de Fransa San Antonio y Almas of Lisbon (master Francisco Jeze de Fonseca).

History: a Portugese merchant ship (100 tons, 10 men), bound from Cork to Lisbon, laden with beef and coal; taken on 1/12 April 1748 off the coast of Brittany by the privateer George (Charles Gordon commanding), and brought into Falmouth.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6-CP 8]: two attestations and claims, one attestation as to the legal natrue of the ship's trade;
  • [CP 9]: allegation;
  • [CP 10-CP 11]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 10 ship's papers (these papers were restored).
