Description

Captured ship: Nuestra Senora del Buen Socorro or La Concordia of Cadiz (master Pedro Nicolas Tardy).

History: a Spanish merchant ship (198 tons, 26 guns, 80 men), bound from Veracruz, Mexico, to Cadiz, laden with plate, cochille [cochineal ?], indigo and fruit; taken on 25 February/7 March 1744, 8 leagues off Cape Spartel by HMS Solebay (Thomas Burg commanding), and brought into Gibraltar.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: set of four examinations in English translation, and four examinations in Spanish, taken at Gibraltar;
  • [CP 6]: allegation;
  • [CP 7-CP 9]: two attestation as to papers, taken in the Vice-Admiralty court of Gibraltar, and abstract and translation of the 2 ship's papers.

Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-SP 6.
