Description

Captured ship: Neptune of Olonne (master Jean Palliau).

History: a French merchant ship (130 tons, 2 guns, 18men), bound from Newfoundland to Martinique and Saint Domingue, and now for Nantes, laden with sugar, coffee and red wood; taken on 28 June / 8 July 1747 at latitude 46°40'N about 10 leagues WSW of the Isle de Re by HMS Lyon (Arthur Scott esq commanding), and brought first into Plymouth and then into the River Thames.

  • [CP 5]: attestation as to the perishing nature of the cargo;
  • [CP 6]: allegation;
  • [CP 7-CP 8]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 23 ship's papers.

Ship’s Papers numbered SP 1-SP 23.
