Captured ship: Nuestra Senora del Monte Carmelo of Callao, Peru (master Manuel de Zamora).
History: a Spanish merchant ship (400 tons, 48 men of whom 33 were 'Indians, Mestices [mestizos] or Negroes', 27 passengers), bound from Callao to Valparaiso, Chile, laden with cloth, European goods, tobacco, sugar, indigo and silver; taken on 12/23 September 1741 between the island of Juan Fernandez and Valparaiso by HMS Centurion (George Anson commanding), condemned at sea under a special commission issued to Commodore Anson's expedition, and brought into the Island of Juan Fernandez.
