Description

Captured ship: Le Mars of Dieppe (master Jean Elie or Helie).

History: a French merchant ship (100 tons, 4 guns, 8 men), bound from Dieppe to Bordeaux, laden with window glass, hour glasses and cheese; taken on 21 April/2 May 1744 about 6 leagues from Le Havre by the privateer Swift (George Hudson commanding), and brought into Dover.
