Captured ship: La Marguerite of La Rochelle (master Charles Guyas).
History: a French merchant ship (200 tons, 14 guns, 34 men, 3 passengers), bound from La Rochelle to Cap Francois, Saint Domingue laden with sea coal, stones, salt, salt beef and linen; taken on 19/30 October 1747 in latitude 40ºN by HMS Centurion (Peter Denis commanding) escorting a convoy, and brought into Portsmouth.
