Captured ship: Marquis de Mezière (master Antoine Portier).
History: a French privateer (25 tons, 4 guns, 37 men), bound on a cruise; taken on 25 January/3 February 1748 between Beachy Head and Dieppe by the privateers Duke of Dorset (John Hunt commanding) and Hawk (Richard King commanding), and brought into Dover.
