Description

Captured ship: Marie Jeanne of Paimpol (master Jacques Le Gal).

History: a French merchant ship (20 tons, 5 men), bound from Bordeaux to Saint-Pol-de-Léon, laden with red and white wine; taken near the Isle de Groix on 6/17 August 1744 by the privateer Success (John Le Gros commanding), and brought into Jersey.

  • [CP 3]: set of standing interrogatories, three examinations of the crew, and commissioners' affidavit, taken at Falmouth, 14 September 1744;
