Description

Captured ship: Marechal de Saxe of Nantes (master Jean Colline).

History: a French merchant ship (130 tons, 8 guns, 20 men), bound from Martinique via Léogâne, Saint Domingue, to France, laden with sugar and indigo; taken on 5/16 June 1747 in latitude 48°10' by HMS Eagle (George Bridges commanding), and brought into the Downs.

  • [CP 6]: allegation;
  • [CP 7]: attestation as to correct mooring of the prize;
  • [CP 8-CP 10]: two attestations as to papers, abstract and translation of the 5 ship's papers.

Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-SP 5.
