Description

Captured ship: Marie Catherine of Dieppe (master Nicolas Cauchois), formerly Leviathan of Bideford.

History: a French merchant ship (30 tons, 4 men), bound from Granville to Dunkirk, laden with currants and figs; taken on 6/17 November 1747 near Portbail by the privateer King George cutter (John Le Gros commanding), and brought into Jersey.

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: standing interrogatories, two examinations, commissioners' affidavit and a wrapper;
  • [CP 3]: allegation;
  • [CP 4-CP 5]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 7 ship's papers.

Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-SP 7.
