Description

Captured ship: Mercury (master Charles Hargrave, as a French prize Reneau or Reneaux).

History: an English merchant ship (11 French men and 4 English prisoners); taken by the French, retaken July or August 1748 at latitude 36°N 64'’ by the privateer Phoenix (John Mason commanding), and brought into London.
