Captured ship: Le Mars (commander Charles Felix, Chevalier De Crenay).
History: a French warship, part of the Duc D'Anville's expedition to retake Acadia (900 tons, 64 guns, 410 men"with one Black or Negroe") bound from the Isle D'Aix to [Sable Island, Canada, where she was so severely damaged by bad weather that she attempted to return to] Brest, laden with provisions for the expedition; taken in fight on 11 October/22 October 1746 about 15 leagues east of Cape Clear at latitude 49°30'’ by HMS Nottingham (Philip Saumarez commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
