Description

Captured ship: Louisbourg (master Olonne André Ferret).

History: a French merchant ship (80 tons, 2 guns, 15 men), bound from Cap Francois, Saint Domingue to La Rochelle , laden with coffee, indigo and sugar; taken on 23 June/4 July 1747 at latitude 45° by HMS Maidstone (Augustus Keppel commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

  • [CP 1-CP 4]: standing interrogatories, two examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 5]: attestation as to the need to unload the cargo due to damage;
  • [CP 6]: allegation;
  • [CP 7-CP 9]: two attestations as to papers and their loss at sea.

[Decision: condemned as prize, 30 September 1747]
