Description

Captured ship: Louisa (master Nils Reinicke).

History: a Swedish merchant ship (51 lasts, 9 men), bound from Strängnäs to Lisbon, laden with paving stones, barrels of pitch, tar and planks; taken on 2/13 September 1745 off Le Havre by the privateer Carlisle (William Owen commanding), and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6-CP 13]: one attestation and one attestation and claim by Nils Reinicke, master of the ship; two attestations, a certificate of delivery and translation by Abraham Spalding, attestation by the Swedish consul at Lisbon annexed; one attestation of Swedish crewmembers Frederick Nelson, Nils Pehrson and Jacob Hanson by the British vice-consul at Lisbon;
  • [CP 14]: allegation;
  • [CP 15-CP 17]: two attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 38 ship's papers [all these papers were restored].
