Captured ship: St Louis of Isle Dieu (master Pierre or Daniel Chauvet after the capture).
History: a French merchant ship with an English license (70 tons, 8 men) bound from Bordeaux to Sligo, Ireland, laden with wine and oils; taken on 16/27 July 1744 west of Scilly by the French privateer La Vestalle (Pierre Chovett commanding), retaken on 20/31 July 1744 by the English privateer Prince of Wales (Richard Castle commanding) and brought into Falmouth .
