History: a French merchant ship (70 tons, 12 men), bound from Newfoundland to Seudre, laden with fish and salt; taken on 2/13 August 1744 on the Newfoundland coast, at latitude 44° by the privateer Benson Galley (Richard Vernam commaning) and brought into Barnstaple.
