Description

Captured ship: Lion d'Or (master Elias Richault otherwise Elie Nicolas Rateau).

History: a French merchant ship (250 tons, 22 guns, 63 men), bound from Mississippi, Louisiana to La Rochelle, laden with sundry goods; taken in May 1744 by HMS Port Mahon (Henry Aylmer commanding), and brought into Bristol.

  • [CP 4]: abstract and translation of the 20 ship's papers, not including duplicates.
