Description

Captured ship: De Liefde (master Hans Quiman).

History: a Hamburg merchant ship, bound from La Rochelle to Hamburg, laden with brandy; taken on 11/22 August 1747 by the privateer George (William Freebairn commanding), and brought into the Downs.

  • [CP 1]: attestation and claim;
  • [CP 2]: allegation;
  • [CP 3-CP 10]: 8 sets of attestations, claims and translations taken and sealed by the ruling authorities of Hamburg, Leipzig and the French Consul at Berlin, between September and October 1747, and brought into court in November 1747;
  • [CP 11]: list of goods to be restored.

[Decision: part of cargo condemned, ship and rest of the cargo restored, 3 November 1747]
