Description

Captured ship: Levrier of Bayonne (master Saubat Ballang).

History: a French privateer (90/160 tons, 22 guns, 99 men), bound from Bayonne on a cruise; taken on 5/16 October 1746 at latitude 43° by the privateer Blandford (George Stonehouse commanding), and run ashore near Lisbon.

  • [CP 1-CP 6]: standing interrogatories, a set of three examinations taken at Lisbon, three examinations taken at Bristol, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 7]: allegation;
  • [CP 8-CP 11]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 3 ship's papers, translation of the letter of marque in two parts.

Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-SP 3.
