Description

Captured ship: Le Léger (master Estienne Beslin, previously Charles Chommet).

History: a French privateer (7 tons, 1 gun, 23 men), bound from Le Havre on a cruise; taken on 25 August/5 September 1745 between the Isle of Wight and the Downs by HMS Falcon (Richard Carteret commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.

  • [CP 7-CP 8]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 2 ship's papers.
