Description

Captured ship: De Jonge Jetske (master Wietse Gerbens).

History: a Dutch ship (65 lasts, 4 men and a boy), bound from Seudre to Calais, laden with salt; taken on 10/21 May 1747 near St Martin by the privateer Duke William (John Norris commanding), and brought into Dover.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: attestation and claim of the master;
  • [CP 7-CP 9]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 10 ship's papers (5 were returned).

Ship's Papers numbered SP 3-SP 8 (with gaps):

  • SP 3-SP 4: 2 French passes;
  • SP 6-SP 8: 2 customs papers issued at La Rochelle and Seudre, ship's pass;

[Decision: the cargo condemned, the ship restored, 7 July 1747]
