Description

Captured ship: Juffrouw Suzanna (master Huijte Aldertz).

History: a Danzig ship (68 lasts, 10 men), bound from Danzig to Brest, laden with timber; taken on 21 April / 2 May 1746 by HMS Otter sloop (William Cust commanding) and brought [first to the commodore off Ostend, then into the Downs, and then] into the River Thames.

  • [CP 1]: attestation and claim of the master;
  • [CP 2]: allegation;
  • [CP 3]: attestation, brought into court 7 May 1746;
  • [CP 4-CP 5]: two attestations relating to the condition of the timber aboard, brought into court 17 June 1746;
  • [CP 6-CP 6a]: attestation with annexed inventory of cargo as an exhibit, brought into court 24 June 1746;
  • [CP 7]: abstracts and translations of the 5 ship's papers [most of these papers were restored].

Ship’s Paper:

  • SP 1: bill of lading issued at Danzig.
